Set between an industrial warehouse and what appears to be a bubblegum-pink bedroom, the video showcases a number of visually striking scenes that showcase the queen literally dripping while holding guest star Max Emerson. As the video goes on, the South Jersey artist lets loose, in a fluorescent themed club that’s also extremely on-mark with the Versace brand.
There’s a lot of chemistry in this video, and director Assaad Yacoub worked over-time to catch it, putting Ariel’s “Life Sized Bratz Doll” femininity front and center. As pretty as the visuals might be, it’s the vocals that shine through this tune, though, and it’s clear that Ariel Versace is a queen with *pipes*.
According to Versace this video is all about “embracing sexual power” and that’s clear from both the lyrics and the style. More than that, though, its a tale that’s told from back-to-front, meaning you’ve got to start from the end and work your way backwards if you want to figure out the real timeline of what went down.
As far as tracks from RuPaul’s Drag Race queens go, this is a top bop that we’re sure to be listening to over and over this summer. What do you think? Is “Venomous” a bop or a bump for you? Let us know in the comments below, or have your say on Twitter – #Venomous!
